Overalls have become a staple
Overalls have once again become a wardrobe staple in the closets of so many women. I remember when they first started popping up everywhere a few years back. I was not a fan of them! They reminded me of that time in my life when I wore jellies, spandex shorts, and sported a chin length bob haircut that was shaved underneath (I cringe when I think about it!). I didn’t exactly equate overalls with feeling like a woman. I felt like a woman-child, is that a thing? The styles and washes I saw were still really awful and unflattering to me. Slowly, I saw improvement and caught myself even liking a few pairs of overalls that I saw on celebs and other fashionistas, but I still didn’t really like them and definitely couldn’t see myself sporting them. Fast forward a few years to now, I’m a huge fan and think that they’re totally great! I think once I saw someone wearing a pair that I could “see” myself in was the moment of change.
I overcame my uncertainty
I embraced the overall– yay, me! Once I decided that I wanted a pair, I then had to decide on a style. I, obviously, ended up landing on black and highwaisted *shocking*! I actually found my overalls the old fashioned way, I saw a woman wearing this amazing pair of overalls and asked her where she got them from. She got them at Madewell. I think I almost instantly went there to try them on to see if they fit! I usually have a bit of difficulty with one piece items like a romper or a swimsuit. My body type is not really made for them because, even though I’m shorter, I have a long torso and a booty. This makes it pretty difficult to find things that fit because there’s just not enough material. Thankfully, overalls have adjustable straps which help someone like me out a lot! This was a pair that flattered my body shape and fit my style perfectly! The struggle to love them was over. Madewell is a great spot for quality wardrobe staples if you haven’t checked them out yet. They have a big sale on some of their overalls right now, too. Since these bad boys are highwaisted, I can wear them with all my crop tops, bralets, and bodysuits for spring and summer. Let’s just say, I don’t feel like a kid in these overalls!
Thanks for stopping by and reading! Have a lovely weekend.
