How To Liven Up Your Winter Wardrobe With A Printed Midi Dress
As the cold weather makes a home here, I face my biggest temptation of all– wearing head to toe black everyday. Whenever I’m asked what my favorite color is, I always say that green is my favorite, but my closet would tell you a different story (and anyone who knows me).
In order to break away from my “norm”, I wanted to liven up my winter wardrobe with more prints this season. I love my blank slate pieces, but it’s always good to get out of what’s comfortable and reinvent yourself. For me, this meant creating a fun outfit with a printed midi dress.
There are so many fun ways to step up your look with prints! One thing that I like about prints is that you can embrace them as little or as much as you wish. Prints aren’t a “Go big or Go home” type affair which makes them totally doable for a minimalistic type gal like myself. You can dip your toe into these waters by adding something small like a printed scarf, a fun floral boot, or a bag to your look.
If you’re in the mood to be a bit more daring, you can even mix multiple prints together to create a showstopping look. I tend to land somewhere in the middle of these two ends of the spectrum. When I’m wearing prints, I like styling a bold focal piece with subtle accessories to give me just the right amount of print and neutral. I’m working on getting in knee deep!
For this look, I went with a printed midi dress because I’m trying to grow that part of my wardrobe. Side note– It’s important to look at your closet and see what items you need to invest in to create a well-rounded wardrobe. For me, I have a number of printed tops, but no dresses, hence, a new printed midi dress!
This printed midi dress is a recent addition to my closet from the Who What Wear line at Target. Isn’t it a beaut? They are totally killing the style game! I also wore a plaid skirt of theirs in my “How To Style White Ankle Boots For Fall” post.
This dress is all kinds of flowy and fun! I love the retro vibes of the sheer sleeves and the defined waistline, they add a beautiful femininitty to the dress that I’m all about. This printed midi dress can easily be dressed up with a pair of heels and the addition of some glamorous accessories or you can create an edgy look by adding a pair of jeans underneath if you’re feeling daring or cold! ; )

As a gal who loves her minimalist vibes, I keep true to my simplistic style in this look by pairing this leopard printed midi dress with chunky black ankle boots and a leather jacket, which is one of my all time favorite staples. Investing in a nice leather jacket was probably the smartest decision of my adult life next to becoming a coffee addict.
I added this darling charms and tassels necklace from The Songbird Co to play off of those warm tones in the dress. The necklace is three individual pieces that you can wear on their own or together which I love. My oversized cat-eye sunnies tend to always be the final accessory in my outfit these days because they just work with everything. That’s my recipe for livening up your winter wardrobe and creating a stylish look with a printed midi dress!
Are you a fan of prints? I would love to hear your favorite way to style them!

Hey girl! That is a great dress! I also love that it came from target, it looks so expensive. It actually reminds me of a dress that Diane Von Furstenberg did years ago. I just love it!
